Tourism chief Berna Puyat tours New Clark City
Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat of the Department of Tourism (DOT) toured New Clark City,
one of the main competition venues for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games hosted by the Philippines.
On her social media account, Secretary Romulo-Puyat shared a clip of the construction of the
Athletic Stadium, which will have a 20,000-seating capacity.
“Have a glimpse of the future, the modern Philippines,” Arch. Royal Pineda, the architect behind
the world-class design of sports facilities in New Clark City, told Romulo-Puyat.
Aside from Pineda, the DOT chief was also accompanied by Bases Conversion and Development
Authority (BCDA) President and CEO Vivencio Dizon, and renowned Filipino designer Kenneth
Cobonpue.
“We welcome and appreciate the Secretary’s visit in New Clark City, the country’s first fully
masterplanned, green, and smart city. We hope her visit will further draw support for local tourism
not just in Clark, but in Central Luzon,” said Dizon.
Aside from the stadium, the world-class sports complex in New Clark City also includes a 2,000-
seater Aquatic Center, and an Athletes Village that can accommodate up to 1,000 athletes. These
facilities are targeted to be completed by September next year.
Clark will serve as the main hub of the 30th SEA Games hosted by the Philippines next year from
November 30 to December 10.
